The Marriott Mission
Marriott had just gone through a rebrand with their Fairfield Inn & Suites line of hotels and wanted a campaign that drove home the new value of customers could expect at their properties. Catering more to the traveling businessperson, Fairfield Inn & Suites wanted some lighthearted fun ads that would resonate with their customers and get a chuckle.
Leaning on my background as a classically trained 2D animator, this campaign seemed like a no-brainer to use cartoon animation to get the messaging across.
I led the designers to establish the cut-out 2D look of the characters and backgrounds. It was important to me that each vignette also had its own color palette that reflected the tone of the animation. I supervised the storyboard artists and animators to ensure that all of the visual humor came through in the scenes with appropriate timing and acting.
What resulted was a campaign of visually engaging, simply animated, humorous ads that really helped establish the new direction Marriott was going in with the Fairfield Inn & Suites.
